Haven was on high alert, listening for sounds coming from the dark shadows that the forest created. It was the middle of the afternoon, but the high trees blocked out most of the light. The only thing that was bright was the shimmering surface of the lake. She stood on the bank, looking down at the water. Art had wanted to come out here, even though it was against the rules. Haven didn't care about that, but the forest felt dangerous, and she had no idea what Art had planned. Why would he want to come out to a remote lake in the middle of a dark forest? They hadn't talked much more about her being a werewolf, and she had started to think that he was really okay with it, but what if he had told the other Daggers and now he was under orders to get rid of her? It was a fear that dwelled in the back of her mind, slowly moving forward.

"Maybe they're thinking of those two people that came into the library with him. Fuck, wait, so he's dating your friend?" he asked, eyes wide. The warlock was a fucking bastard; he obviously had eyes for his Ariana. Easton pulled back the covers and grabbed his clothes, pulling them on. He ignored the fact she was lying back on the bed again clad in only a night-gown. Otherwise they wouldn't get anywhere.

And of course, she didn't react in anyway terrified by him, so he climbed out of the lake dripping wet and knelt in front of her. "Haven?"

"Because that wanker you call your mate is lusting after you, that's why. He's not your mate, but a guy who wants in your pants."
